RAV Vast - D Major
A cheerful sound, an uplifting timbre, and super easy to learn! That’s what makes it the odds-on favourite among both beginners and professional musicians.
The drum belongs to Western culture. The D Major scale was commonly used in European classical music and, being a base for violin music, became popular in the Baroque period.
Are you searching for a “happy-sounding” spacedrum available for sale? Then you've found the right one! The D Major is a very positive scale that creates a pop-song feel. The D Major looks pretty much the same as the B Celtic with a different middle and first note. Still, the D major has its own unique and more lively and joyful voice.
The D Major is one of the most popular scales for beginners who are searching for a good pan drum. This scale is easy to learn, works perfectly for intuitive playing, and provides many options for improvisation. At the point when you haven't learnt all the patterns yet (or are making your very first steps in playing a handpan), you can still get a really good melody. We suggest you to stow the RAV Vast in its bag to protect it from dirt & dust. Apply Phoenix Handpan Oil every fortnight to protect your instrument from rust and to maintain the same sound quality. Do not expose the RAV Vast in the sun for too long.
RAV was invented by a Russian engineer, Andrey Remyannikov in 2013, inspired by handpans, and turned out to become inimitable among other similar instruments. After months of daily work, several broken metal barrels and 100 rejected forms of ‘tongue’ (note) - Andrey’s first prototype was born. 100% hand-crafted, it was a homage to the Hang, but with a different look and totally unique sound.
He adopted the name RAV after handpan forum members and the drums’ very first owners took his full name - Remyannikov Andrey Vladimirovich - and gave the instrument this nickname.
Our instrument gives an easy access to creating music to everyone. Both, beginners and professionals. Today there are more than 20 different RAV Vast scales and more than 7 RAV Pan scales are handcrafted and we're constantly working on the new ones. Each scale represents a certain mood, inspired by a certain culture or harmony
